Free Tree scheme launches

This year South Derbyshire District Council's Free Tree scheme celebrates its 20th year with another great selection of young trees to give away with applications beginning on 12 October.

Since the initiative began in 2001 over 10,500 trees have been given away and at least 35 schools and community groups have been involved along with countless South Derbyshire residents.

Concrete blocks on land by the bridge

Further to the Parish Council's statement on 4 June 2020 regarding the blocks by the Bailey Bridge and following the Parish Council meeting on 8 June, the Parish Council wrote to Derbyshire County Council to request the removal of the blocks due to the adverse impacts on traffic in Station Lane and people inflating boats etc in surrounding roads, notably Riverside. Concrete blocks on land by the bridge

The Parish Council were concerned like many other parishioners to see the arrival of concrete blocks blocking off access to land by the bridge. An email was sent to Derbyshire County Council to report that parishioners were not happy about this decision and to establish the reasoning behind this.
